Indie cyber-fantasy RPG in development
The Central Nexus
The Central Nexus is a cyber-fantasy role-playing game in development. You arrive in an impossible city, meet the people who live there, and decide what to do beneath a hundred-floor Tower.
What kind of game is it?
In genre terms, The Central Nexus is a single-player, turn-based computer RPG (CRPG) with dialogue choices, dice-roll skill checks and a cyber-fantasy setting. It is an indie game made by one developer, and its dice rules draw on the 5th edition System Reference Document (SRD 5.1).
What the prototype does today
An early, private prototype exists. It is not public. This is what it does.
- Walk through the Endpoint Tavern, the plaza around the First Light Fountain, a shop, a narrow lane and a rooftop garden.
- Talk with the people you meet and choose what to say. Some choices are decided by a die roll, with the numbers shown.
- Fight turn by turn.
- Shape how your character looks in the appearance creator.
Plans, not features
The wider game is planned around portals to other worlds and the Tower of a hundred floors. None of that is playable yet, and plans can change.
The setting in brief
You arrive in the Nexus, a city that seems to have no exit. The logout is missing. You have three lives. In the middle of the city stands a Tower of a hundred floors, and from the sky a figure named Aethereon announces the rules. Two guides, Aazoth and GUIDY, help you find your feet, and the first people you meet are in the Endpoint Tavern.
